About Me

About the Sculptor

Marrita is a bronze sculptor with a raw talent for capturing the essence of today's horse and rider. Having trained and shown horses professionally for over 25 years, she has an accurate appreciation for her subjects. Her 30 plus years of successful training in the Quarter Horse industry contributes to the realism and dramatic animation of each piece of art. "There is 'No Substitute' for a living model," says Marrita.

What i do

In 1992, Marrita was inspired to begin her art career when she and a friend visited several galleries in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She decided to create a sculpture that would truly represent and immortalize the modern day Horse, virtually launching her sculpting career and carving out her niche. Her award winning style and her attention to realism has led her pieces to be on display at galleries and museums across the country; including the American Quarter Horse Association Heritage Center and the American Paint Horse Foundation.

Having established herself with her bronze pieces, Marrita has now added resin works to her portfolio. Many of her iconic pieces as well as some new ones are now available to a broader base, while still maintaining the lavish detail of her originals.

On a personal note; anyone that knows Marrita understands that her love of the horse in all its forms is only rivaled by her love of Chinese Crested Dogs; she is not only an enthusiast, but she breeds and successfully shows these beautiful animals.

Sierra Te Portrait

Consigned by the owners of Sierra Te.

Me And My Shadow

Taffy was a special Visula dog. She loved to chase the shadow that your hand would make on the ground. Her owners commissioned me to sculpt Taffy playing her game. Taffy passed away a few years ago, but she will live on forever in this bronze sculpture.

Mr Conclusion

One of the greatest Halter Horse sires of all time.

Commissioned by the American Quarter Horse Association, AQHA started awarding this trophy in 2000 for Grand Champion and All Around. It was also featured inside the much sought after Globes at the AQHA World Show.
